Pay-Per-Click Marketing
Pay-Per-Click Marketing (PPC) is a technique of recording the effectiveness of any link based advertising on the web (by counting clicks) and then assigning charges against it. This method of advertising online can be used for ordinary website advertising but is more commonly used in reference to advertising on Search Engines.
The three main providers of Search Engine Pay-per-click advertising are Google Adwords, Yahoo and Live (the search engine owned by Microsoft).
It can be a very useful strategy to use a Pay-Per-Click campaign as research for what terms people use to find products or services that a business might sell and also to get an idea of the volume of traffic that is out there.
